Bayern Munich have agreed the signing of Omar Richards on a free transfer after his contract with Championship side Reading expires this summer, according to multiple sources. The defender is said to have passed the medical ahead of the move, which took place in England due to the current travel restrictions imposed by Germany, and agreed to sign a four-year contract with the Champions League holders.
Since his promotion to the first team in 2017, the 23-year-old left-back has so far made 92 appearances for Reading in all competitions, scoring three goals.
Given that they ve already secured the signature of centre-back Dayot Upamecano, 22, from RB Leipzig, it seems the Bavarians have taken the task of rejuvenating their back line very seriously. Reports suggest that they re still interested in Norwich City right-back Max Aarons, 21, as well.
Bayern s interest in Richards was first reported in January, and it seems that it was the main reason why he rejected fresh, improved terms to recommit to Reading.
